Had a very Christmas Eve-y Christmas Eve so far today and it’s been lovely 🙂
We spent most of the day at Chris and Julies while the four children ran around in the state of excitement that only four small children on Christmas Eve can achieve. Julie and I drank mulled wine and there were mince pies made (and not even by me! She trumped me by using home made mincemeat – something I will try myself next year, but I won as she used readymade supermarket pastry!), we listened to Christmas music and sang along, we reminisced about our earliest and our best Christmas memories from childhood – which is strange to be doing with a pair of brothers who had never heard, nor featured in each others, so a little poignant there. We left there around 3pm, drove home and managed to see 3 sets of neighbours outside to wish Merry Christmas . I wrapped the last of the presents and then the children wrote in my parents card.
We all had baths (I shared mine with both children), the children opened their traditional Christmas Eve gifts of festive pjs, which predictably Tarly flatly refused to wear ;-), we left out mince pie, carrot and red wine (run out of brandy!) for Father Christmas and Rudolph, Tarly is asleep already, Davies is very close and Ady is off to collect my parents in a minute for our traditional Christmas Eve evening of indian takeaway and lots of drink at our house. We’ll be putting all the presents round the tree, sprinkling flour to make footprints from the fireplace and hopefully making it to bed with at least four or five hours before the children are awake again!
We’re off to my parents for the whole day and night tomorrow, so I’ll be back online again on Boxing Day.
And as I did make it back again before the event I will take the opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas one and all once more 🙂
Merry Christmas Ady, Nic and s & D xxxxx
