One word? When seven would do…

Earlier than planned!

We’re home again. Ady started feeling unwell this morning and was being ill by the time we arrived at my parents. He did manage a very small Christmas dinner but was looking pretty crap and feeling worse so it seemed a bit crazy to stay there the night on a very ‘make do’ sleeping situation when we only live a mile away and the reason for staying there was so we could both have a few drinks, if he was not drinking anyway.

That aside, we’ve had a lovely day. The children were up at about 6am – well Tarly was up before 5 actually with her first of three tantrums of the day – she’s doing a lot of asserting herself lately that child! But we refused to start Christmas officially until Davies woke at 6 when I got up too.

Their faces were pictures at all the presents under the tree, they spent ages unwrapping and oohing and ahhing, then me and Ady spent ages unpacking, making and inserting batteries so they could play. Hits include for Tarly a Tarly size dolled, predictably christened ‘Scarlett’ and currently sporting the dress she wore herself for Christmas 2003, an ELC soft stuff jewelry kit and a wooden circus, for Davies a roman colleseum complete with Romas aplenty, a soft stuff construction vehicle kit and a matchbox haunted house thingy. We also got Tarly an Ikea dolls house way back earlier in the year when they were reduced to 7 quid and that has been popular with them both.

We headed over to my parents around midday where the children had a couple more presents each including a remote control car paid for by Frazer, chosen by me and actually purchased by Ady which has been by far Davies’ favourite gift of the day.

Mum did a lovely Christmas dinner, albeit with plenty of drama and sighing, we ate that, had a few rounds of Kerplunk – another popular gift, and have headed back for home. I *think* Tarly is asleep now, Davies is very close to it, I fully anticipate finding Ady crashed out on the sofa and I am already in my pjs. I think it will be a very early night all round!

  2. Poor Ady. Hannah got up at 8am, and opened her presents when Bob got home. I’m lying on the sofa, sucking bucks fizz from a straw 😉 and Hannah is wearing her skates while playing mastermind with Bob. Glad you had a good day.

  3. Give Ady my love and oodles of hugs 🙂

Fab day here unbelievably, kids loving their gifts and have managed not to get dressed all day.

The lunch I made was amazing if I do say so myself and wish I had followed a recipe for the soup which had everyone licking their lips.

I also managed to snooze all the way through Dr.Who!
