While I was hanging the washing out this morning my landline and mobile had both been called from my parents house. I phoned back when I came in but there was no reply.
Went to our friends house and was vaguely half aware of some news report talking about transport disruption in London but it was drowned out by three children running around and two babies crying while we tried to chat.
It was only when Ady rang me to say he would be very delayed trying to get out of Coventry because of the explosions and then told us to turn on the TV that we realised something was going on 🙁
Realised very quickly afterwards that my Mum was going to London this morning to see a west end show. Cue frantic ringing round of her phone, their house and finally my brother’s phone.
He answered all pissed off sounding and my heart sank. Turns out she didn’t go cos she’d heard there was a power cut and he was pissed off cos he’d just been pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt and had a rough time with the policeman about a conviction for some minor crime when he was 18.
Very relieved (although I have still not actually got hold of my mum myself), very sad that many people making similar frantic phonecalls will not be feeling that relief and a horrid premonition of a phone call that me and Frazer are likely to have at some point in the future regarding a parent….
*hugs* hat must have been horrible for you. It’s so awful what’s happened huh? Hope you get to speak to your mum soon.
