One word? When seven would do…

Rolling drunk in Reading :-)

Thank you to The Portico for a lovely day and evening, and thank you to Layla and Simon for being there and adding to it all. (Thanks also to Si for the ice cream 🙂 ). Commerative drawings are on their way to you all 😉

Had a lovely, lovely day yesterday. We were supposed to leave at 7am but it was probably closer to 7.45, which meant we were still at Alison’s at the fairly indecently early hour of 10am 🙂 Davies and Lije were both desperate to show each other something (Lije had some game – something 2 and Davies had thought he’d brought Green Eggs and Ham on dvd – turned out we’d actually brought the empty box!). Didn’t take long for all the children to scatter to random places around the house and garden so Alison and I could chat.

Then we all piled in her van to go to the local HE group which I really enjoyed. Normally at our group I feel obliged to ensure it is all running smoothly and get all fretful about children running around. So it was very nice to sit down and chat and drink tea and play with scoubidous (more on that later!) with other HE folk including Layla. The venue is really good with a smaller room for crafty stuff (sticking, cutting, hama, lego etc) and a sports hall to send them all of to run around and shriek in – Scarlett mainly sat and ploughed her way through the picnic Ady had packed for us (with Nestle products a plenty, bless him!) but Davies did quite a bit of participating considering it was a new environment with new people.

Back to Alison’s and the kids (now including Claudia) scattered once more, a nice pair up of Poppy and Claudia, Davies and Elijah and Scarlett and Lulah seemed to sort itself out so that was good. Me, Alison and Layla sat around and discussed all sorts of things including child rearing, educational methods and ideas and several money making schemes 🙂 The first of which I will introduce in a post of of it’s own in a bit as it deserves it! The kids all sat and mainly ate spaghetti (well those who were not put off by talk of it being worms 😉 ) and staggeringly both mine tried and liked and ate a bit 🙂 I think it was at least quarter to six (a very repectable and civilised time IMO) before we opened the wine. Ady had arrived and he was drinking beer before we were! Si arrived with ice cream for the small people, Chris arrived and tried to just cook dinner for himself!

A loud and very enjoyable evening followed, Davies was like some sort of resident junior characterturist producing pictures for everyone and a ‘No Noise’ sign when Lije was getting bothered by us all being too noisy. He told Si off for saying ‘bloody’ so Si and Alison taught him some new swear words ‘piss – a rude way of saying wee-wee’ seems to have gone in. Luckily I can still say shit, bugger, fuck and wank without him knowing I am swearing 😉 Scarlett took herself off to a bed at some point (and slept through being put in the car, driven home, put into her bed and didn’t wake ’til 6.30 this morning – result!). Topics of conversation included body hair, names for girls genitalia (which necessitated a text to Sarah!), putting a ‘donate’ button on my finance blog to make millions, a fairly fantastical conversation continued from earlier about my early painful and long drawn out death or me and Ady’s shock divorce and how possible money could be made from some sort of memoirs pertaining to it and possibly lots more.

Ady as the only sober one – and the one who had to drive home to Sussex and be back in Kent somewhere for a meeting at 8am this morning finally called time at about 10.30 (well he’d been trying for a good hour but I’d been ignoring him!) so we loaded kids into the car, Davies was asleep by the end of the road, I tried really hard to remain conscious (nodded off twice!) and we were home by about 12.30 having struggled to get out of Reading and driven round The Oracle twice 😉

Astonishingly I am not too delicate this morning and as Julie has just rung to say Maisie is ill so our plans for today have been cancelled the kids seem quite happy to spend the day drawing and watching TV so I think a recovery from their late night is in order.
