The day before…

Had a lovely day today. Dad popped round first thing with a financial contribution to happy holidays 🙂 so that was a nice wake up call.

He left and Mum arrived so we set off to Ardingly for the South of England show. A smooth journey there and easy parking. Mum paid for us to get in (under fives free and D is short enough to qualify 😉 ) and we had a lovely time looking at lifestock, watching the horse competition, wondering around all the various stalls and participating in the hands on stuff. There were sheep to pet, piglets to coo over, a fab area about buying British where D and I went off to on our own while Mum and Tarly watched the horse and trap competition and he got to practise milking a pretend cow, chat to people about sausage making and mill his own flour from grain – which was bagged up for him to bring home, so I’ve promised we’ll make cake from it when we get back from camp.

We learnt about wood turning and foot operated lathes from a very enthusiastic man who gave both children wood shavings to bring home, there were ladies there with spinning wheels to far more adequately demonstrate what happens to sheared sheep’s coats like we saw last weekend than I managed and loads of people watching. 🙂

And a very sunny day with ice creams too. What more could you ask for really? 🙂

Came home and Mum bathed the children, I cooked quiche and Ady loaded the car up (and boy is it loaded 😉 ). Children finally fell asleep and I think I am headed the same way myself for my last night of luxury indoor be sleeping before roughing it for a week.

Really looking forward to seeing those of you I’m seeing tomorrow. Safe journey to you all. 🙂

  1. I am looking forward in my brief stay to the moment you emerge from your tent for the first time tomorrow morning and the moment your forget that tents aren’t soundproof 😉
