Home – for now!
Right then, first of all a couple of requests:
1) Would you all stop bloody blogging when I’m away! For the first time ever I’ve (not even totally managed) been round the blogring and cursed all the people who have been blogging and sent thanks to all those who have not!
2) The new people – I just can’t believe the amount of new folk on the ring atm – so with a severe time / catch up deficit going on just now and hoping that you are all new and enthusiastic enough to read all the other blogs on the ring – WELCOME, and I look forward to getting to know you all in due course (well actually in about a weeks time when Ady goes back to work and all my outside life away from the computer ceases and I become three times a day blog lady again!)
So, at the risk of adding to an already brimming reading list we are back – we have had a fab few days away. Thursday we arrived at Windsor for lunch, checked into the Travel Inn and then went off to Windsor to explore. We did a tour bus round Windsor and Eton and had a quick wander round the shops before going back to the hotel and having dinner in the restuarant attached. Kids asleep very very late at 10pm but we all slept through!
Friday we were up, breakfasted, dressed and at the doors of Legoland a good 20 minutes before it even opened! Ady busied himself taking photos while me and Monster looked at all the lego in the shops for sale. Teeny found a Dora set of duplo which she took a lot pf persuading to put back so we didn’t have to trug it round with us all day. It was a really good day out, we saw most of it, although we could easily have filled a second day but looking at stuff in more detail – Mini Land particularly (loads of landmarks and scenes from all around made out of Lego) was fab but didn’t get enough viewing due to time running out. Me and Monster went on all the rollercoasters he was tall enough for – hands in the air and all! He used to love coasters and had sort of lost his nerve till he was persuaded onto the first one and he rekindled that passion straight away – a couple of great pics we bought from the log ride – I will scan them in and blog them maybe next week. We didn’t take the pushchair in and although she was carried a fair bit Teeny did really well at keeping up with the pace – can’t wait for the day when I need no pushchair, nappies, juice or so on!
We had dinner in our restuarant again last night and kids were asleep by 9pm – and we were asleep by 10! Ady says its like having his wife back again when I have no computer access in the evenings – so what do we do to recapture our long lost passion? talk long into the night? tell each other amusing anecdotes about what we have been up to during the day? No, we sleep 😉
Teeny woke up at 5am, we managed to keep her quiet till 6am when she woke Monster and the two of them played with their lego until we woke up properly at 7.30am! Then breakfast and we had planned various different possibilities for today. The Living Rainforest in Reading (which Alison blogged about a while back) was one, as was The Look Out but with two pretty tired children we decided to come home the scenic route and ended up stopping in Chichester for lunch, to get the photos printed off and found a Lush shop where I restocked which was a result! Home to find neither my order from Hawkins or The Book People had arrived ( bad as we are away again Monday – Wednesday!), speedy unpack, first tumble dry of the season, (Lush) bath and I reckon bed is calling me now.
Tomorrow we are off to Chris and Julie’s for a barbecue, then off again on Monday up to London, back Wednesday for the wind down before Ady goes back to work. So far we are having a great time, enjoy the pics – more of London to follow soon I’m sure!
