Our truncated bank holiday weekend!

Has come to an end 🙁 Ady is back to work tomorrow but at least Mum and Dad are off tomorrow so we are doing something with them tomorrrow while Ady braves the M25 grand caravan tow home!

Had a nice day today, although Davies has driven me mad this weekend but just acting like a complete fool. He does this occassionally, always attention seeking based and just goes all giddy about everything – the slightest little thing results in a melt down and he is just really irritating with not being able to do anything, getting told off for doing something then going and doing the exact same thing straight again afterwards. The sensible rational part of me knows it is tiredness, feeling crap with his cold and just a phase he goes through every so often – the side of me he is seeing is being driven mad by it and seems to be shrieking or nagging at him constantly! Will aim to try harder not to lose it with him tomorrow… Scarlett has a bad cough and is very clingy to me – which is probably also contributing to Davies’ behaviour. Ah well!

Today we met up with Chris and Julie at an open air museum (posted link earlier in the week, can’t be arsed to dig it out again!) for a food fayre. It was not quite what we were expecting – they had been last year and really raved about what a full day out it was, how many fab foods and drinks there were there to taste and buy and so on. It was okay but the food fayre bit was nothing special really (still managed to buy homemade biscuits, fudge, ginger wine and mango chilli chutney though 🙂 ) and the kids were not really up for walking round the rest of it. It kept raining too so we had to keep taking shelter during the showers – although the weather inbetween showers was beautiful and it ended up being a lovely day weatherwise in the afternoon. We did try to join as members so we could get a season ticket as they have a calendar of other events through the year which looked pretty good and it is a good educational venue but they were really busy and fairly unhelpful and I can’t decide whether to bother writing a letter and trying to join by post or not…

After that we went back to Chris and Julie’s and sat in their garden for a bit. They have this fab wooden climbing frame with platforms and slides (reminds me of the old ‘aparatus’ which used to be fixed to the walls of the school hall and pulled out for gym practise at infant and primary schools) which Davies and Scarlett loved playing on – Scarlett as ever the most daring and confident about climbing higher and faster than everyone else. Then home where I ranted and shouted at the kids before bathing them and sending them off to bed!

Somehow I don’t feel any more rested and relaxed after this relatively quiet weekend at home than I did after the last two manic ones being away. Ah well, that nice relaxing week in Dorset should put me back on track eh? 😉

  1. Hi there, think Freya has the same cold and is behaving in the same difficult manner. She is up and down and wobbly. So I’m hoping a few days will sort it out. Mango chilli chutney – mmmm.
    See you soon
