Work all day day for me today. In the morning I spent ages faffing around making nursery rhymes festive and then photocopying them so we could have Christmas themed baby rhyme time. We managed it with a combination of Christmas songs (Little Donkey, Away in a manger, Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and the like) and some butchered nursery rhymes, some of my own rewriting (I did Incy Wincy, Row, row,row your boat, wheels on the bus) and some not (a great twinkle twinkle and some to the tune of including London Bridge and nick nack paddy whack).
It was an intimate rhyme time with just 8 adults and 8 children due I guess to illness and other commitments at this time of the year but it was nice and quite nativity play-esque. Several of them took the song sheets home with one mum saying they were planning a singalong with family and would love to sing the songs :).
I’d planned to do a bit of shopping at lunchtime but had gone to work wearing a different coat to yesterday having left my cash card in yesterdays coat. I couldn’t be bothered to drive home so instead sat in the staff room drinking 2 cups of tea, eating various festive fayre and reading out of date Grazia magazines. Was nice :).
It all feels very ‘end of term’ at work and I only have one shift left which is Christmas eve anyway now.
Ady was home with the children in the morning and then dropped them at my parents house (at their request) for the afternoon. As he was literally driving past the door again on his way home he picked them up which meant I had nearly an hour at home alone before they all arrived. Home alone isn’t something that happens very often and actually having not seen them for more than 10 minutes this morning I was rather missing the children so I was very glad to see them when they got home. Albeit for a few minutes only before I headed off again.
Ady got paid today so I went off to get the remnants of the Christmas shopping for Davies and Scarlett (and a few bits for Ady). I did a load in Asda, wandered lost around Toys R Us, popped into Tesco and got home at about 930pm.
We managed to wrap up all the kids presents and re-hide them away again, have dinner (very late, almost midnight) and drink lots while watching Friday night tv. I am now feeling very much full of the Christmas spirit and infact should probably go and sleep it off!
