One word? When seven would do…

Little Peter Rabbit had a fly upon his nose…

My parents came over for dinner last night. As always seems to happen when they do my Mum came and chatted to me in the kitchen while I cooked and ended up having way too much wine (some people just shouldn’t try to match me glass for glass! 😉 ) and went through the entire scope of drunkeness within about an hour an a half – we had manic, giggly, philosophical, challenging, melancholy, utterly depressed and then quiet and sleepy! Funny to watch 😈

Ady had to go to Birmingham today so he was up at 4.30am – funnily enough the exact same time as Tarly woke up 🙄 so he gave her milk and then plonked her in bed with me at 5.30am when he left. She did sort of snuggle down to sleep and then around 6am Davies appeared and snuggled in with us too. At 7 they decided to get up and go downstairs to carry out their now regular morning routine of eating breakfast made by Davies from whatever he can reach (a loaf of rather stale bread which he had managed to saw hunks off with a butter knife, ribena (rather a lot of which ended up on the worktop) and chocolate biscuits this morning!) and then taking all the sofa cushions off, putting C&TCF on really really loud and bouncing on a sofa each fast forwarding to all the songs. Independance, physical exercise, music and movie appreciation all before I even get out of bed ticked off then! 😉 They also played on Nick Jr for a while too.

We walked round to the corner shop for some bread (muffinicity slipped a bit here this week with regard to bread baking, but we did buy some reduced to clear for 19pence so frugality still ruled!) and chats with three lots of neighbours so that took the best part of half an hour and involved Davies paying for the bread himself and a chat about the word ‘neighbour’. We made sandwiches and headed over to Chris and Julie’s. On the way we listened to all my Will Young records with me telling Tarly how we went to see him in concert when she was inside my tummy (Davies’ claim to fame being he came to New York with us in my tummy needed some balancing out! 😉 ) and then some James Blunt. On the way home we listened to Tumble Tots Action Songs, hence the post title!

It’s been a beautiful day here today and we did have good intentions about going for a walk but they ended up spending time in the garden instead so we didn’t feel too guilty about chatting and drinking tea instead!
The children played naked bouncing on Jack and Maisie’s bed which seems to be a current favourite game round there for my two, Scarlett and Maisie played at being kittens and other girlie games, they all four spent ages running up and down the garden and Davies spent about an hour with Chris who came home at lunchtime watching him do stuff in the garden and having a hold of their pet guinea pigs which he was thrilled about.

Julie and I covered topics as diverse as internet porn, porn generally, regulation of the internet, freeedom of speech and censorship (I have to say I have just spent nearly half an hour on the internet trying to conjur up the word censorship – I ended up ringing my Dad and eventually in trying to describe to him the word that was escaping me I came up with it – argh!). We talked about education, gender differences in behaviour, friendships and childish behaviours such as exclusion of others in games and so on, morality and ethics oh and loads more. Very nice afternoon 🙂 We also talked about a couple of books I’ve been reading too so it all felt qute highbrow!

We left there and came home for the children’s tea. Scarlett is fading fast and will be in bed very soon I suspect, Davies hopefully not long after. My Mum is calling round with a baby photo of me to email to Alison and Ady rang around 4pm to say he was leaving Birmingham and should be home around 8pm hopefully.

I’ve been very industrious in my research and sent emails to the local football club for under 6s training on a Saturday morning (held about a five minute walk away from here), Badgers (held round the corner but it says for 6-8 year olds on the webpage) and Beavers (held a five minute drive away). Now I’m off to make a list of stuff to pack tomorrow and my plan is to pack leisurely through the day so that we can have an early night and be out early Friday morning on our way to Manchester.

I have got some stuff buzzing round in my head for a Davies ‘when he was five’ page which I may end up doing later been as I’ve blogged early and I have nothing to say on any other blog ;-).

  5. My mother has not been able to lay her hands on a baby photo of me. She said you didn’t take family snaps then, it was just the odd studio shot. And given I was her first born, it’s a bit of a poor show.

  7. Well, how far back does she go, Joyce? Toddlerhood or small child would be acceptable 🙂

  8. The first photo that can be found of me is my sister’s christening photo, when I was 9. I can’t believe this actually. I’m taumatised. Pass me the damn cushion, someone.

  9. Golly.

Mind you, there aren’t many photos of my mum who is 56, or 57, or something. her aunt was a photographer, so they have a few of that type. And my grandad was a gadget bloke, so he did have a camera, but there aren’t millions.

Max’s brother ripped up most of their family photos in a rage after their mum died, so there aren’t many of him either 🙁
