Ady took Davies and Scarlett over to Liza’s this morning – this helps not only with timing as his start time is more flexible than mine but also with petrol. It also means I get a half an hour with no one in the house but me which is always nice :).
I worked this morning. Wednesdays always go quick as we are only open for 3.5 hours. I’m working again next Wednesday – Christmas eve. It will be interesting to see whether it’s quiet or mad busy then.
After work I went over to Liza’s to collect the children and have a cup of tea with Liza. She also made me lunch – thank you very much 🙂 which was very nice and much appreciated :).
At home the kids did some DSing, some WALL-E watching and some playing. I did some baking – some cheesey stars and some mince pies. Neither child likes mince pies so I made some jam tarts too and was very pleased to discover another 2 jars of strawberry and chilli jam tucked away at the back of the chiller as I thought we were about to finish the last jar 🙂 Will definitely make more of that next summer when we go strawberry picking.
I came and sat down with the children while they had dinner and we googled to find out information about the worlds tallest bridge in response to Scarlett’s question on the way home about where it was and how high. I’d mistakenly thought it would be in America but on googling was reminded about the fanfare when the bridge in France opened and we found a short film all about it so watched that together. We’ve been talking a lot the last few weeks about what we want to do /go / see in 2009 so we carried on talking about that and Davies told me about a conversation he’d had with Ady about human evolution. He thinks that we can’t just stop evolving now and wonders what changes to the current design might happen in the future so we talked a bit about that and what has changed about humans since caveman times.
Scarlett shared her theory about ensuring you don’t die by identifying in advance what your last words might be and then avoiding ever saying them thus meaning you can’t die as you’ve not yet said your last words . They both seem to be doing a lot of deep thinking of late, coming up with some amazing ideas and trains of thought, questions that I can’t necessarily give them answers to but we’re enjoying chatting about anyway.
They then got in pjs and brought over a blanket and we sat and ploughed our way through an hours worth of books. I’ve been on another mass ordering in books binge at work so had a nice big pile which we got through about a third of. We had a plan to do some present wrapping tonight but Davies took ages to go to sleep and we got distracted by the feast (!) of Christmas food programmes on telly instead.
Wow, you weren’t joking about content 🙂 When do you find the time to do all these things let alone write about them??
Been there. Done that. 🙂

Will tell Tarly that ‘Glowy’ has been to the bridge – she will be most impressed :).
