I’ll do some sort of poll to try and work out which would be best for the majority of people although I suspect whatever choice is made will sadly rule somebody out. I’ve checked availability of hostels for two weeks – Monday 23th to Friday 27th October and Monday 30th October to Friday 3rd November. The second week has lots more available options, probably because the first week is half term and lots of the hostels only become available on the Escape To.. scheme from November anyway.
So the list of availables is as follows:

Great Yarmouth, sleeps 40, 7 bedrooms
Helmsley, sleeps 35, 7 bedrooms
Margate, sleeps 36, weird bedroom set up with lots of single bed rooms (which is not without appeal 😉 )
Truleigh Hill, sleeps 56, 13 bedrooms although lots are 2 bedders
30th
Great Yarmouth, sleeps 40

Kings Lynn, sleeps 35, 6 bedrooms
Kirkby Stephen, sleeps 40, 8 bedrooms
Littlehampton, sleeps 32, 8 bedrooms

I think we could more or less rule out Littlehampton and Truleigh Hill as they are about 5 miles either side of me and therefore as far south as you can get – handy for you, me and Ali but crap for everyone else.
I quite like Kirkby Stephen just cos it’s an old chapel and looks pretty 🙂
since it will involve a long drive no matter where, I’m pretty easy!!
I thought you were planning Wales though? Anyway that Kirkby Stephen looks nice too, but it says closing in October 06 🙁
That must be for normal bookings Kirsty and then it goes to Escape to from October to Feb – which is when it looks like it closes for good.

Opposite a beach would mean wet children every day. Mine – Poppy especially but not exclusively – cannot resist.
