Peace and goodwill to all men

apart from those in Sainsburys 😆

A fairly lazy start to the day, actually I’ve had a fairly lazy day all round really. I’ve done some looking up recipes online and writing them in my recipe book. I had intentions to actually do some baking but was lacking too many ingredients to do it. I did some online reserving of various things – Frazer is coming in with us on a cd player for my parent’s car so I reserved it from Halfords (although they later rang me to say they didn’t have one at that branch but ‘thought they did at another branch, maybe I could try there?’ – so their website doesn’t work then) – Ady managed to find one at yet another branch. I also reserved the last couple of bits we want for Tarly at two different branches of Argos, both of which we’ll be going near tomorrow while Christmas card delivering so that’s all my Christmas shopping finished :). I spent the rest of my time mostly drinking tea and reading Dawn French’s autobiography.

Ady was more productive and went off for several hours to Tom’s to chop firewood in a labour in exchange for half the wood deal. He also brought home 8 pheasants so in January when we run out of food on about the 15th of the month due to running out of money we’ll be able to make full use of this google search.

Davies and Scarlett did some Christmas craft kits that had been put away with the Christmas decorations last year undone so were only rediscovered last weekend. They mainly contain glitter and glue so are on the messy side. They also watched WALL.E, did some painting and made a game called ‘Animal Heroes’ out of paper and cut out shapes which kept them amused for ages.

When Ady got home I went out. I wanted to get a few bits from Boots for Tarly, food for dinner tonight and the missing baking ingredients and also a Christmassy or otherwise special top for Scarlett to wear on Christmas day. I didn’t manage the top but I did get everything else, and quite enjoyed wandering round with no real pressure all by myself listening to the other shoppers all stressed and arguing with each other.

Back home again I had an early bath with an aim to having an early dinner. It didn’t happen as Tarly came in the bathroom and ended up getting in the bath with me while Davies and Ady watched crap Saturday night tv together.
