Wondering just what such titles are doing for Chris’ blog (have always been tempted to write titles which when displayed like that have a message but have never plucked up courage!)

Me and the washing machine are still doing OK (now concerned that my relationship with said household white goods is moving beyond the ridiculous ‘is it harbouring some alien life form’ type phase and onto the sort of deeper one enjoyed by Shirley Valentine and her wall 🙂 )

Scarlett has coped well really. Her spots are coming thicker and faster than Davies’ did and her little speech mid afternoon of ‘Mummy, Scarlett sad. Scarlett not like pox’ was quite moving. She went to sleep as normal but I am currently sat on her bedroom floor while she is wide awake playing with Dora and Boots and her face appears to be one big pox 🙁 She is as yet either unaware or unmoved by the spots which is good but her mood is up and down.

Davies has done himself proud today – he has had moments of being a challenge but in the main he has been a superstar 🙂 Forgot to blog yesterday that the microscope with Horrible Science finally arrived and tonight at bedtime Ady got it out and looked at stuff like a hair and a feather with him which he really enjoyed. Infact he got so into the whole educational thing that he started doing some basic reading and writing with him which they both enjoyed. I finished it by writing ‘me bed’ and getting D to read it 🙂 Despite not doing any 100EL for ages he really has grasped the idea of it all and has been looking at books like the red nose readers in bed for the last couple of weeks 🙂 His numbers have come on leaps and bounds too – he did a dot to dot today and while he did have a bit of help he has totally grasped the patterns which repeat through the tens – is able to tell me what comes after 8 without having to go back to 1 and start counting again and has even grasped minus one for numbers up to 10 🙂 Funny how it suddenly seems to have come together without any real input from me for a while…

I did quite a bit of housewifely stuff too – changed over the loose covers on the sofas which was long overdue but I refuse to do unless the weather is reliable enough to guarantee the spare set getting washed and dried and put away ready for the next swapover, also excavated underneath and behind both sofas at the same time including a thorough hoover of skirting boards etc (which depending on your personal level of houseproudliness will either have you marking me as a slut, a clean freak or the same as you 😉 )

Had phone chats with the other local EO contact about a local issue, a quickie with Karen ( 🙂 ) , parents have been round for most of the afternoon and then back again for dinner tonight, Ady’s presentation went well – he is doing it all again tomorrrow – and his V&D seems to have abated.

And that would probably be about it. I am crossing all available limbs and digits that the pox does not hit too hard on S and that her beautiful face comes out unscarred (shallow I know, but it is the truth!) and will continue to hold it all together until we are at a convenient time to lose it all and get drunk and rant again!

  1. elinor had a pox face [9 months] but the only scars were from the 2 infected ones on her face [ a few elsewhere]
Alys meanwhile scarred from scratch she inflicted within 5 mins of birth!
    think scarlett should be ok
