Davies and Scarlett were off with Ady for the day today and they dropped me off at work on the way. Ady has worked crazy long hours this week so was able to finish for the day after lunch and spent time getting the van battery on charge. We’re hoping to get it running over the weekend and fill it up with petrol ready to be serviced on Monday.
I had a mixed day at work. It dragged, as my all day shifts generally do as it is so very quiet, particularly for that last hour or so but I was working with some of my favourite colleagues and we had a laugh. It was Baby Rhyme Time this morning so I did that, having had dwindling numbers before the summer we were considering putting it back to a monthly rather than fortnightly event and indeed with the knowledge that I am leaving in the spring and noone else remotely interested in taking over the mantle I think the powers that be were hoping it would quietly fade away but numbers have been building back up again and today we had a good turn out of nearly 20.
That included a young dad and his little daughter and a grandad and his little grandaughter who I had been talking to on Wednesday when I was ordering a dvd of Robin Hood for them and they’d come back to do singing today. We had a good rousing sing song and the Grandad was excellent with the maracas which always helps bolster my own enthusiasm (not grandads being excellent with maracas specifically but proper audience participation ;)) and even some heckling – he said he loved the mummies on the bus go chatter, chatter, chatter so I asked what he did on the bus and he said he ‘sat there composed’ and showed us his composed expression so we sang about ‘Grandads on the bus just sit there composed, sit there composed, sit there composed…’. He came back in later to ask me if I do singing properly. I blushed, laughed and said no. He told me I had a really nice voice for folk songs and if I was interested in doing some singing I should let him know. Not sure whether I have been discovered, hit on or taken the piss out of! 😆 😆 😆
Ady and the kids picked me up after work and Ady and I sat in the van for a while when we got home. I’d asked the others for their answers to some of the questions from the WW blog so we talked about that for a bit. I love sitting in the van, it feels right :).
Back indoors Ady cooked pancakes for the kids tea (more double yolker duck eggs, tomorrow morning S collects the last one 🙁 ) and I read some story. Davies did a very lovely picture of the ducks under an autumnal tree with a stunning sunset, will get a pic of it tomorrow.
We’re sad not to be parked in a field with Chris and Helen right now but happy to have nothing specific to be up for in the morning 🙂
lol at the Grandad 🙂
