The one in which we re-enter the outside world

During the week I mean. We seem to manage fine during weekends but I’ve been hankering after our weekday lifestyle for, ooh, days ;).

So we breakfasted and dressed and headed over to Littlehampton museum where I’d arranged by email to collect a loan box on some geology exhibits. We found the museum really easily but had to drive round for a while to find a parking space. I wasn’t sure how big the box was but figured a box full of rocks wasn’t likely to be something I’d want to carry very far.

The receptionist at the museum said the curator had just gone into a meeting so we arranged to pop back in an hour and went off to have a look round the town. We were just killing time really but managed to go to a bookshop selling the WBD books and got a Mr Gum one for Davies and a Julia Donaldson one for Scarlett. We had a peruse round some charity shops but didn’t find anything to buy so headed back to the museum as the car was in a space for one hour only.

Fortunately the curator had just come out of her meeting so was around to hand over the box (fairly small) and for me to fill out the form which I’d suddenly been worrying about the level of information required on and whether it might be something passed to LA departments – hate the level of paranoia the recent stuff is creating in me. It was very brief and just asked for name and phone number though so I needn’t have worried and spent all that time creating false identities and dates of birth for the children ;).

We had a very brief look around the museum as I was worried about the car but it looks excellent so we’ll ensure we have time for a proper look around when we return the loan box.

On the way home we called into Broadwater to get some french bread for lunch and pay a quick visit to our favourite old fashioned sweet shop for a quarter of something each :).

Home for lunch and a read of the Mr Gum book Davies got which was very good.

Scarlett has been pretty much back to normal today but was adamant she didn’t want to go swimming today so I agreed. I’d rather miss swimming and have her properly definitely better tomorrow than push the issue and maybe set her back. We left home slightly early to pay a flying visit to the allotment to check on recent plantings. Planning a few hours up there at the weekend to get some more plantings in.

Davies had a good lesson, Scarlett sat and DS’d and as I’d predicted wobbled about not having had her lesson after all. Home for their tea and a bath and hairbrush for Tarly which took ages. Ady came home, we started exploring the geology box but put it aside to look at properly tomorrow and we had some more stories – Scarlett’s WBD one, a Barefoot book called Faery’s gift and the first couple of chapters of the next Mr Gum book we’ve got (biscuit billionaire – no idea if there is an order to them, I suspect not).

Ady cooked a lovely roast chicken dinner and we watched Bridget Jones, Edge of Reason which happened to be on.
