It’s that messing with your head about what day of the week it is over Christmas time isn’t it?
Ady wanted to do something to the chickens today – he’s lined their coop in a thick waterproof stuff which will hopefully keep them warmer and muffle the cockerel’s crowing too. So he spent some time outside doing that.
The kids and I stayed inside playing with DSs and then doing some of the kits they got for Christmas. They both got a plaster of paris hand or footprint kit so we did those. Scarlett took a cast of her foot, Davies did his hand. It consisted of a pack of gel to be mixed with water which you left your hand / foot in until it set (about a minute), then poured the plaster of paris into that to make a cast. They both came out really, really well. Davies’ hand particularly is quite spooky in it’s 3D likeness complete with full fingerprints and everything. We were so impressed we went back to the shop planning to get some more (they were just £1.50 per pack) but they had none left.
Scarlett opened a window sticker kit and did a little of that and Davies went through his now quite vast collection of Doctor Who figures. He ended up with 2 Donna’s as he got one seperate on and one in a kit of various assistants so he’s kept the individual one in it’s pack and is planning to swap it for something else. He now owns a positive army of daleks (I think he has 8 plus a remote control one).
We had an early and small lunch and then went to my parents. Ady chopped up some wood for them using Dad’s chainsaw, we had another small lunch – finally got to have turkey leftover sandwiches 😉 and the kids got another dose of Uncle Frazer. Mum and I looked at the photos of Bruge that she’d not seen yet and also the one of Tarly doing her keeper for the day and the NicCamps pictures which she was slightly tight lipped over and just said ‘looks very cold and bleak’ at all the lovely shots of the big gang of children having a ball playing in the snow!
We left as it got dark to get home for the chickens. More DSing, dinner for the children and we all watched Help, I’m no bigger than a bug which we thought was good. I sat and cut up Christmas cards into circles and made a couple of baubles with them which look really nice and effective and are now hanging on the tree. I’ll cut up the rest and make a whole treeful to put away for next year :).
After ranting from me about overtiredness making for gittery and threatening not to bring him to Em’s party if he doesn’t catch up on some sleep the next couple of nights Davies was actually asleep by about 9 tonight as I turned his light off when I caught him sitting up drawing and he actually laid down. Miracle!
Awe not seeing me as a threat….the dizzy heights of loveliness.
Though I spose its more like not seeing R!
I was looking at all kinds of paper baubles on instructables. There are some really lovely looking ones if you can get your head round the origami required!
😆 it worked. Ithink you come as a package, he thinks YOU are lovely too :).
Will take some pics of the ones I’ve made, I think they look really nice and I like the idea of Christmas trees being decorated with cards from friends last year :).
