I’ve spoken to a few people who are up for the idea of a camping trip in September. I’m trying to sort out Davies’ birthday party and need to try and organise the two so they don’t create problems for each other and I think my best plan is a birthday party for D on Saturday 6th September and then camping from Monday 8th for a week. I am aware that anyone going camping on the Monday might not be up for travelling down to a birthday party on the Saturday though although we’ll have an open house to come and stay for the weekend and travel off from here on Monday if that makes it easier for anyone aiming to do both.
So, birthday party aside who is up for camping that second week in September and where shall we go? I’ve got in mind perhaps Shell Island, perhaps Cornwall or if it makes it easier I’m up for somewhere close to us here in which case we could start from the Saturday 6th and tack it onto D’s party weekend. Any thoughts?
ETA – okay I have a bit of a plan. How about the Sustainability Centre where we camped for the green fair last month? We can have campfires, it has loads of surrounding fairly safe woodland, okay facilities at the centre or hostel for showers / toilets and they hold loads of cool courses there such as campcraft and survival so I could arrange something like that for one of the days. There is loads of wildlife on site and we can do a day trip to the Butser ancient farm too. It’s well within an hours drive from us (Hampshire) so fine for people to go on to from here after the party.

We could do Monday – Friday s’long as it’s not too far away. Girls would just miss one gym training session that way. Girls are down in Dorset that weekend of Davies’ party, so I could go on from there on the Sunday after I pick them up. Anywhere in the bottom half of the country perhaps drawing a line under Birmingham and not going too far south-west would be good!

no, don’t think so. I’d contact them as soon as we have a vague idea of numbers and clarify stuff like that to be sure but they were very laid back about everything when we were there before.
We can do Monday 8th for a week – would just need to move a dentist appointment.

That camp site would be perfect for us too! Would anyone object to me asking wednesday friends along? They were very disappointed no kessingland this year and are desperate to muscle in on this group camping malarky!
Oh and if you went on there after the party I’d join you then, get all set up, then pop and collect the girls Sunday night 🙂

Ooh all excited now, I’ll email them with a provisional booking and check what sort of numbers they can stretch to and the tent size query.
I’ll also get in touch with the campcraft people too and find out prices on that.
Sounds fun but we’re off to Scotland later in September and I think adding a trip down south would just about finish me off.
I don’t think anything’s going to change much next term, so Tuesday or Wednesday should be good, ta 🙂

Girls aren’t around for Davies’ party, as they’ll be at their dads, would feel a bit odd coming without them, so we’ll all meet you whenever you decide to camp!
have just checked the dates and we’re up for the camping (just me and kids) however won’t be able to come down for the weekend party celebrations as we have James’s best friends wedding and we can’t really get out of that. Bit gutted really :O( However camping will be good!
