Enjoyed an embarassingly long lie in this morning. I was woken by shrieking children around 8am so slammed the bedroom door shut which was when Ady and the children went outside. I thought I’d just dozed for an hour or so, so was staggered to see it was gone 11am on the clock! 😳
They were having a whale of a time in the garden playing with the sandpit, the trampoline (only a mini rebounder thingy but they love it), the slide and various other created games. They adopted a snail in the garden last summer and called it ‘Sherbert’ – so they found a new snail and decided it was Sherbert returned and build a home for it from my upturned washing basket adorned with leaves and stuff.
Me and Ady took the tent down and then did stereotypical gender role stuff of him mowing lawns while I made some cheese scones and fairy cakes and did a couple of loads of washing. Mum rang to say she was in Sainsburys and would I like her to buy some lunch stuff and come over so she joined us for the rest of a lazy afternoon in the garden.
Ady checked the two ring and grill stove that Chris has lent us, inflated our air bed and dug out our camping chairs and various other bits and pieces from the garage. So we now have a couple of gas fuelled lanterns, a double burner stove and two small single burners – so we’re equipped with something to sleep under, something to sleep on, something to cook on and thanks to freecycle today something to wee on too! What more could we ask for? 😉
Davies has self appointed himself as scratch monitor of my itchy hand so he’s been ensuring I don’t scratch any more than I need to, which is cute, helpful and a slightly scary indication of how much our babies have grown up.
Tarly has had a lovely day in the garden with one small chin banging incident which was clearly very painful right on her scar and had her weeping for a while. 🙁
Late to sleep for both of them so hopefully not too early a rise in the morning and we’re planning to go to the local springwatch event in Brighton with a picnic and possible meet up with Ali & co which will be lovely.
